Across the world mining giant Glencore has mounted sustained attacks on workers and trade union rights. Glencore has a long history of human rights abuses.
Currently CFMEU mining members are fighting Glencore on several fronts in Queensland and NSW.
In the Hunter Valley there have been stoppages at a number of sites, and at Oaky North in Queensland members have been engaged in industrial action since May, as they struggle to get a fair deal for their new Enterprise Agreements.
At the heart of the disputes is Glencore's push for a casualised contract workforce, driving down wages and conditions, destroying local jobs and the local economy.
We are fighting back, not just for ourselves but for the future generation of mineworkers. Workers deserve better. Our families and communities deserve better.
